IdeaGem 1.0, organised by ACM SSCBS, was an innovative ideathon held at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies on February 29, 2024. The event welcomed participants from various colleges, breaking away from traditional coding competitions. Teams of 4 to 5 individuals were assigned unique themes and tech stacks, given 3 hours to craft inventive solutions without the need for coding. With the introduction of ACM Coins, participants could strategically alter themes, upgrade tech stacks, or buy extra time. The top 3 teams and 2 hot theme winners were awarded cash prizes, and incubation opportunities. The event aimed to bridge the gap between coding experts and newcomers, fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the community.
IdeaGem 1.0 served as a unique platform for fostering fast thinking, quick decision-making, and super innovative ideas among students. The event stood out for its emphasis on individual creativity, promoting a distraction-free environment that led to the generation of unique, original ideas. The format, which discouraged cheating, encouraged participants to rely on their own ingenuity, contributing to a valuable learning experience.
IdeaGem 1.0 emerged as a resounding success with highly satisfied participants, creating a vibrant ideathon environment. The positive experience extended to judges, garnering exceptional reviews. The TIC and juniors expressed pride in the well-executed event. Organisers gained valuable experiences and learning throughout.
